A day that should of ended with talk of a great horse ended with tears for a fallen Princess. In Louisville Kentucky yesterday a super horse, Big Brown, left the Kentucky Derby field in his hoof prints as he ran for home.
The big colt had Derby watchers thinking Triple Crown when tragedy struck. Eight Belles in her attempt to be only the fourth filly to win the prestigious race collapsed shortly after finishing second. As we watched the owners of the winner celebrate the news came; Eight Belles had broken both front ankles and was euthanized.
Yes the fast filly was gone.
We congratulate Big Brown's team but our thoughts are with the people behind Eight Belles. She was a horse with a spirit stronger than her body and that spirit will live forever.
