Golf may be catching tennis in quality of hot players - but if sports had a beauty pageant - Maria Sharapova would still be Miss Sports.
In her own sport she is challenged by the dark haired Serb, Ana Ivanovic. Ana is a beauty but Sharapova with her longer legs and blonde hair gets the nod.
In golf there is a bevy of beauties. Paula Creamer, Natalie Gulbis and Anna Rawson come to mind. Paula, like Sharapova, is a great talent combined with looks but again Maria's blonde hair gets her more points. Gulbis is as blonde as Sharapova but again Maria's legs..wow! It brings us to Rawson. Rawson at 5'10 rivals Sharapova's long limber limbs. Anna Rawson also has been known to show up to tournaments very blonde. Where Sharapova beats Rawson is simply she gets more exposure. Rawson not a top player, yet, is only glimpsed on network TV while Maria Sharapova is the main focus.
Basketball as most other sports have no hotties the caliber of the Russian born Sharapova.
The only other sports with challengers are auto racing and softball. If Jennie Finch or Caitlin Lowe would do a sexy poster they might beat Maria. So far they have been too wholesome to do to cheese cake posters.
So that leaves last but not least - auto racing. Yes believe it or not auto racing has babes. No not pit lizards but real drivers. Have you seen Danica Patrick? She may be as hot as she is different from Maria Sharapova. Where Maria is tall and blonde, Danika is short and brunette. Where Maria seems nice Danika is hell on wheels. Maria beats her in congeniality.
So the Russian turned American, Miss Sharapova, is still the sexiest athlete on the planet but things are looking up.
Tennis has always been the hot bed of hotness in female athletes but ten years ago could you have imagined women's golf or auto racing getting this close?
Me either, but every Sunday I am thankful they are!
